A Pretty Girl

There it is again!

A Pretty GirlVery interesting. Saw a play titled “A Pretty Girl” in Chemainus yesterday. It was written by Barbara Lebow about a family torn apart when the father and the younger daughter have a chance to escape to USA prior to World War II while the mother and the older daughter (but still a kid) stay behind in Poland. Many years later the grown up and married older daughter had survived the slaughter in Europe and also comes to New York, meeting up with her now also grown up “all American” sister. Two strangers to each other. The younger sister tries hard to learn more about their mama she doesn’t remember… the older one can not communicate.. and finally bursts out “I cannot – I cannot talk about that…
Again, – here is the title of my new book! Since I am “aware” of these words now, I come across them everywhere.
If you have a chance to see this play – see it. It’s very powerful. Some people need to take extra Kleenex.

About gmroeder

Author: - there was so much I never talked about and now, that my memoir "We Don't Talk About That" is written I can't stop talking about it. And the reviews I get are awesome; so I think this book needed to be written. Interesting that I receive many e-mails from people who read the book and now tell me their similar stories... Did I open "a can of worms?" I think there are so many people who carry a heavy memory load and they do need to "unload". But interesting enough, even more people want to know MORE of my life and therefore I am working on a sequel.
